The Rev. Fred Schott was called in February of 1991 to serve as our interim Pastor. He remained a part-time interim pastor for a little more than seven years at a time when our church was on the brink of ruin. Though part-time, Pastor Schott was instrumental in helping restore Christ the King and bring it to a point where we could afford to pay a full-time pastor. He was installed as our fifth pastor on March 2, 1997.
Christ the King experienced a “rebirth” thanks to Pastor Schott. The congregation grew, his sermons enthralled, his love of children and his caring for others touched many lives. He was famous for his great skits that highlighted the day’s gospel lesson and for his use of M&Ms to make a point in an effective - and tasty - way. He also had a great voice and contributed so much to the choir of Christ the King over the years. His wife, Jan Westrick, founder of the Princeton Girlchoir, was our Parish Musician for many years and together, they offered so much to our music ministry here.
Our physical structure grew too. Groundbreaking for our new
construction took place on September 9, 2007. After two long years, we dedicated our new construction on February 22, 2009.
Pastor Schott retired on February 14, 2010, after
19 wonderful years with us. We had a big celebration in the Fellowship Hall. The next month, we held a festive banquet at Pierre’s restaurant to thank him for his years of faithful service.
